Cindy & I went here after Boeing-Boeing @ Hartford Stage. We used a Restaurant.com $25 Gift Certificate. This is our second time dining & partying there. We really love this restaurant & recommend it highly. It’s reasonably priced, there are always drink specials, they are on Restaurant.com, the service is good, the bartenders buy back or minimally give extra shots when you order them chilled, and the food is GREAT. Both times we went there, the owner visited our table…er, um, bar stools 🙂
We started w/ Mozzarella en Carrozza (deep fried mozzarella chunks not sticks). Their’s is a large portion, as is everything there, w/ two 3″x1.5″ chunks supporting a 3″x2.5″ chunk. the marinara is excellent.
Cindy had Baked Stuffed Shrimp w/ sides of ziti and steamed broccoli & zucchini. It came w/ a side salad. the Italian Salad Dressing sucked – basically it was bottled golden Italian. The 4 shrimp were huge and she ate just two and only a bit of the pasta, no veggies. The cost was $19.
I had one of the items off the Valentine’s Weekend Menu – prime rib – which came w/ a HUGE app, a cup of either pasta fagioli or chicken escarole soup, and sides of roasted potatoes and steamed broccoli & zucchini for $22. My meal was gigantic and delicious, especially the appetizer: Artichoke Hearts Francaise. It was one of the best and most interesting app’s I’ve ever eaten.
We each had a few beers and 2 shots (= 4 shots). The total bill after the Restaurant.com Gift Certificate and tip (and we duped her $35) was $102. A total bargain since we had more than our share of cocktails 🙂 Had we gone straight up, no Restaurant.com, normal tip, just a couple cocktails each, the bill would have been about $75. And we had enough food left from our take away boxes to have lunch for the 4 of us today. HIGHLY recommended.
